Assemblymember Mark González was first elected to the California State Assembly in November 2024 and appointed by the Speaker of the Assembly to serve as Majority Whip. González represents the 54th Assembly District — one of the most diverse districts in California. District 54 encompasses Boyle Heights, Lincoln Heights, Westlake, Downtown Los Angeles, Koreatown, Pico-Union, Chinatown, Little Tokyo, Historic Filipinotown, and the cities of Vernon, Montebello, and Commerce. González is the son of a single mother and grew up in Section 8 housing — he understands the challenges working families face in trying to make ends meet. After his mother suffered a stroke two years ago, Mark became her sole caregiver — taking his mom to the grocery store, doctor appointments, and attending church with her every Sunday. In this role, he witnessed the failures of government, social programs, and the healthcare system to support vulnerable seniors adequately. Prior to his election to the State Assembly, Mark served as Chair of the Los Angeles County Democratic Party. He successfully organized support for laws to make community college free, protect our air and water, make housing more affordable, and combat the homelessness crisis. After the overturning of Roe v. Wade, Mark helped lead the fight to pass a constitutional amendment in California protecting a person's right to access safe, legal abortion care — effectively turning California into a safe haven for anyone seeking reproductive care across the nation. In 2023, Mark organized to pass a new law ensuring all healthcare workers receive a minimum wage of $25/hour. The challenges he and his family faced are at the core of his advocacy, driving him to stand up for his community and work toward ensuring that no Californian has to endure such struggles.

Assemblymember Juan Carrillo was elected to the California State Assembly in November of 2022 to represent the 39th Assembly District. He represents portions of the northern Antelope Valley, including Palmdale, Lancaster, the eastern communities of Littlerock, Lake Los Angeles, and Sun Village, stretching into San Bernardino County to include Adelanto, Hesperia, Mountain View Acres and Victorville. Assemblymember Carrillo served as a member of the Palmdale City Council, advocating for affordable housing to address the homelessness crisis, increasing green space, and supporting local small businesses as they recover from the COVID-19 pandemic. Before entering public office, Carrillo served as a city planner for 15 years — 10 of which were with the City of Palmdale. Juan was born and raised in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico, and immigrated to Los Angeles when he was 15. He earned his Associate’s Degree in Architecture from the College of the Desert, Bachelor’s Degree in Urban and Regional Planning from California State Polytechnic University Pomona, and a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from California State University Northridge. Juan lives with his wife in east Palmdale with their four children.

Major General Matthew P. Beevers was appointed as The Adjutant General of the California Military Department by Governor Gavin C. Newsom on 26 May 2023. General Beevers was commissioned through the Early Commissioning Program at New Mexico Military Institute in 1983. He served as a Tank Platoon Leader, Armor Company Executive Officer, Battalion Support Platoon Leader, Delta Company Commander and Headquarters and Headquarters Company Commander with 1st Battalion, 149th Armor, and 3rd Brigade, 40th Infantry Division (M). While commanding D/1-149 Armor, he participated in Operation GARDEN PLOT, the response to the Rodney King verdict civil unrest in Los Angeles. After completion of Armor Officer Advanced Course, General Beevers served as the Assistant Brigade S3 with 3rd Brigade, 40th Infantry Division (M). He then served as Operations Officer with the 69th Press Camp Headquarters, deploying with the 69th Press Camp Headquarters to Bosnia-Herzegovina in support of Operation JOINT FORGE. General Beevers continued to serve in the 69th Press Camp Headquarters as Executive Officer and later as Commander, deploying to Hungary with Task Force Warrior to train and equip the Free Iraqi Forces in the run up to Operation IRAQI FREEDOM. Upon his return, he was assigned as Executive Officer, 100th Troop Command and later deployed as the Director of Strategic Communications, Combined Forces Command – Afghanistan, Operation ENDURING FREEDOM. General Beevers returned to the 100th Troop Command as Executive Officer and later served as Assistant Chief of Staff, California Army National Guard. Upon completion of Senior Service College, he was assigned as Director, Command, Control, Communications and Computer Systems, J6 and later as Director of Operations, J3. General Beevers went on to command the 100th Troop Command, California Army National Guard. On 16 April 2011 Governor Edmund G. Brown appointed General Beevers as the Deputy Adjutant General of the California National Guard. General Beevers holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from San Jose State University and a Master’s Degree in Strategic Studies from the United States Army War College. General Beevers’ military awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit, the Bronze Star Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters, Army Commendation Medal with two Bronze Oak Leaf Clusters, Army Achievement Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, National Defense Service Medal with Bronze Star and the Combat Action Badge.

Director of Strategic Communications California Military Department Brigadier General Sylvia R. Crockett began her military career in July 1982 and currently serves as the Assistant Division Commander (Support), 40th Infantry Division and the full-time Director of Strategic Communications for the California Military Department. General Crockett initially joined the California Air National Guard’s 129th Rescue Wing at Moffett Federal Air Field, and in 1984 she joined the California Army National Guard and entered the California Military Academy. In 1985, following her commissioning as a Second Lieutenant, Adjutant Corps, General Crockett was assigned to the 49th Personnel Services Company (PSC) as Chief, Personnel Management Division. General Crockett later served with United States Army South, Panama, as the Protocol Officer. After returning to the 49th PSC as Executive Officer, General Crockett transferred to the 223rd Military Intelligence Battalion in 1992 and served as the S2. General Crockett commanded Company C, 223rd Military Intelligence Battalion from 1993 to 1996. Subsequently General Crockett served as a Planner for I Corps, G3 Plans and Exercises at Fort Lewis, Washington. In 1998 General Crockett returned to the California Army National Guard as the Executive Officer, 250th Military Intelligence Battalion. In 1999, General Crockett was assigned as Executive Officer, Office of the Adjutant General through 2003, and commanded the 49th Personnel Services Battalion from 2000 to 2002. In 2004, General Crockett was assigned as Deputy Chief of Staff, Personnel, Joint Force Headquarters, and in 2006 was selected to command the 223rd Infantry Regiment (Combat Arms) - the first female to hold this position. General Crockett was also the first female to be appointed as the Joint Force Headquarters, J3, Director of Plans and Operations, and subsequently the Chief of Staff of the California Military Department. General Crockett is currently assigned as the Assistant Division Commander, (Support), 40th Infantry Division. General Crockett holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice from Sacramento State University, and a Masters degree in National Security Strategy from the National War College. General Crockett’s military awards include the Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Army Reserve Component Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal, and the Army Reserve Component Overseas Service Ribbon.
